Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
George is listed as being killed in action on 5 Oct 1915, the very brief war diary for the day is transcribed as follows: "On the 5th at 4.30am in response to an SOS the Battalion stood to but stood down at 5.00am. 5th/6th everything was quiet". ENDThere is a Casualty listed attached to the battalion War Diary who states that George was KIA on 5-10-15.
On October 22nd 1915 the Leamington Courier reported that George was "killed in action by a sniper while on sentry duty".
