Circumstances of Death

Thomas is listed as being killed in action on 8 Oct 1915, the final day of the Battle of Loos. The brief 3rd Battalion war diary entry for that day is transcribed below.

Vermelles - Trenches - 8 Oct 1915: The trenches heavily bombarded from 12.15pm to 3.15pm then attacked by three German battalions. Attack successfully repulsed.

Casualties: 23 killed and 1 officer and 65 men wounded. END
