Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

George is listed as dying from wounds on 21 May 1917. He is buried in Boulogne which was in the centre of a large concentration of Army medical institutions in the Boulogne and Wimereux area.

It has not been possible to identify exactly when and where George was originally wounded. The Story of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment book contains the following brief information:

"The month of June [1917] had witnessed the opening of the northern offensive with the Battle of Messines. The 10th Royal Warwickshire had been serving in that area since the middle of March and had had some sharp fighting in the trenches".
