Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The battalion were in the trenches at Biaches when they were subject of a heavy bombardment which "caused carnage" in the lines and they were then attacked by German raiding parties which were eventually repelled. The battalion suffered over 100 casualties on this day.
