Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The battalion were in the lines at Feuchy Chapel when they were involved in the attack on enemy lines at Observation Ridge and Battery Valley. The attack was partially succesful and they captured Observation Ridge and Feuchy Chapel Redoubt and continued to advance until they met unbroken wire in front of enemy lines at Chapel Road. The battalion dug in and consoldiated the gains made. They suffered 175 casualties during the attack.
