Frank is listed as being killed in action on 4th October 1915. The very brief 1st Battalion war diary reveals that he was one of 26 casualties caused by enemy shelling of the Battalion's front trenches. La Bourse – 1 Oct 1915: In billets at La Bourse. Major Nicol DSO died of wounds. Capt. Worboys-Gordon returned from “temporarily sick” La Bourse – 2 Oct 1915: Coy arrangements Trenches – 3 Oct 1915: Bn relieved 2nd Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry in trenches. Capt W.Gordon transferred to 3rd Bn. Capt Greville and 2nd Lt A Bonham-Carter transferred to 4th Bn Trenches – 4 Oct 1915: Front trenches heavily shelled. 26 casualties Trenches – 5 Oct 1915: Bn relieved by 6th Buffs and proceeded to reserve billets to Vermelles Vermelles – 6 Oct 1915: In billets |
