  • Originally enlisted in 28th Battalion Canadian Infantry as Private 73837
  • Arrived in UK in February 1915
  • Promoted to Lance Corporal 29 May 1915
  • Arrived in France on 17 Sep 1915
  • Commissioned to 2nd Lt in 1 Jan 1917 onto General List, joined Royal Flying Corps on 24 May 1917
  • In Oct 1917 he was Badly wounded and burned after his aircraft was shot down by 9 German aircraft. After 17 weeks in hospital and a training course he was appointed as an instructor at Shawbury, Shropshire
  • Promoted to Lt in 1918

Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

Robert was accidentally killed along with Flt Sgt Frank Allsop when their Airco DH-9 aircraft broke up pulling out of dive over Shawbury during a training flight.
