Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The CWGC website lists Richard as being killed on 5 Sep 1915, however this is contradicted by the war diary who specifically states that he was killed on 4 Sep 1915. The diary for both days is transcribed below:

Tilleloy - 4 [Sep 1915]: Cpl. Southern killed. Enemy very quiet. There appear to be very few Germans in the front line. END

Tilleloy - 5 [Sep 1915]: Batt. relieved at 8.45 by 11 K.R.R. & moved into Bde Reserve in Laventie. Men in much need of rest. END
