George is listed as being killed in action on 26 Oct 1917. The war diary entries for the 25th & 26th Oct are transcribed below.

Boesinghe - 25 Oct 1917: C Section relieved by teams of A, B and D sections. 2 OR killed and 8 OR wounded.

Boesinghe - 26 Oct 1917: Nos 1 & 2 teams attached to 4th N.F [Newfoudland Regiment], nos 5 and 6 to 5th N.F and nos 13 and 15 attached to 7th N.F, attacked enemy line in accordance with Operation Order No 217. Attack held up by enemy machine gun fire and teams consolidated to the best advantage.

1 Officer (Lieut F.W. Brickman) and 3 O.R. killed, 1 officer and 5 OR wounded, 1 OR missing believed killed.

Boesinghe - Night of 26/27th Oct 1917: Attacking teams relieved by teams of C Section and team of 150th M.G. Coy
