Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

Overnight on the 7th/8th Aug 1917 the battalion marched from Kemmel Camp and relieved the 6th Wiltshire and 9th Welch Regiments in the lines at Beaver Hall east of Danoutre. Movement by daylight was made almost impossible by enemy sniping and shelling and the battalion carried out work on the trenches at night. No mention is made of any actions or casualties in the war diary and it is assumed that Jonathon was a victim of the above mentioned shell and sniper fire on the 9th August 1917.
