Circumstances of Death
| John died on 1 August 1916 of Blood Poisoning after being wounded in the trenches in France and being evacuated to the Kitchenor Hospital in Brighton. An article in the Rugby Advertiser on August 6th 1916 on states that John was wounded on 20 July 1916 whilst working with a Trench Mortar Company. At that time the Battalion were in the lines at Farquissart and on the 19th July 1916 took part in the attack on Fromelles. |
