Cassell - 25 April 1918: IX Corps H.Q (less H.A. [Heavy Artillery]) move south but H.A. remain behind. It is not known how long the latter will remain. H Corps M T Column move into offices and billets vacated by E Corps M T Column.

Cassell shelled, but shells have not yet reached top of hill. Very heavy fighting in vicinity of Mt. Kemmel and heavy casualties to personnel and vehicles of the Siege Park.

T Lieut W G Smith badly wounded, this officers battery was kept for a considerable time in front of 18 pounders and French 75's, at a distance from the front line, unsual for a 6" MK VA Battery. Two tractors of this battery had direct hits a few days ago on the Westoustre - Canada Corner Road.
