Richard is listed as being killed in action on 2nd December 1916. The 1st/6th Battalion war diary entry for that day is self-explanatory and transcribed below. Le Sars - 2nd Dec 1916: In trenches. At 9.30am enemy rushed a Lewis Gun post, killing 2 men & wounded 2 men. Post was immediately counter attacked and regained by party under Sergt Windmill. Casualties 2 killed, 4 wounded O.R. |
