Previous Military Service

  • 26 Sep 1894 - enlisted as a Boy Soldier aged 15
  • 12 Oct 1894 - stationed in Ceylon
  • 30 Mar 1896 - returned to UK having caught Dysentery
  • 7 Sep 1899 - admitted to Colchester Military Hospital with syphillis
  • 2 Oct 1899 - discharged as medically unfit (syphillis)

Circumstances of Death

Charles was discharged from the army because of "sickness" on 18 Aug 1916. He died 6 months later of Meningitis and Cerebral Syphilis Gastritis on 4 Feb 1917 at Warwick Infirmary. When he died there were no relatives present and his death was witnessed by C Measures, Matron at Warwick Union Workhouse
