Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

On 23 Jul 1916 John was admitted to a military hospital with severe shell shock where he was also diagnosed with Epilepsy brought on by the shell shock. He was discharged as medically unfit on 6 Feb 1917. In 1918 he caught Spanish Flu and died in Southam where he is buried.
