Circumstances of Death

Frank died of a gun shot wound to the spine and spinal meningitis on the 6th April 1918 at the King George's War Hospital in Lambeth. We have found an index record showing that Frank was admitted to a Military Hospital on 22 Mar 1918 with Gun Shot wounds but we cannot confirm it was King George's. Please find below the death certicate record from the General Register Office (GRO). We have not yet established when or where Frank was wounded.

Frank had previously been admitted to 56th General Hospital at Etaples on 23 Sep 1917 with severe sickness. We have not been able to find any other Army Medical records which show which military medical facitilty he was in before being moved to Etaples. Further we do not know when he was released and if this admission is related to his death 7 months later.

It is noted that the Etaples Admission record shows Frank as being attached to the 195th Machine Gun Company, the only such reference we have seen.
