Front Line near Beucamp - 17th [Oct 1917]: Quiet day. 2nd/Lt A.H. Fordham who was in charge of a patrol of 10 O.R. encountered an enemy patrol of about 20 to 30 men near Boar Copse. Fire was opened at short range and the enemy returned. 2/Lt Fordham set a fine example of initiative and leadership in the encounter. END
