Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

Leslie's service record states that he was wounded on 20 Oct 1916 and died on 21 Oct 1916. The war diary records that they were in the lines at Neuve Chappelle and "Battalion relieved by 2/7 Worcester Rgt and took over billets at Croix Barbee. 8.30pm B Coy raid on trench line reached parapet but could not not enter. 3 OR killed, 11 wounded. Draft of 15 OR arrived from base".
 
Leslie was wounded at some stage during these actions and died of those wounds the following day.
