Circumstances of Death

Wilfrid is listed as dying of wounds on 19 Sep 1918. His Canadian Army "Circumstances of Casualty" card states that he died of shock at the 57th Casualty Clearing Station and was buried at Aubigny-en-Artois. A newspaper report in the Warwick Advertiser on 5 Oct 1918 states:
..."he was hit by a shell while endeavouring to reach a trench, and only lived a few hours after his admission to a clearing station"

  • On 8 Dec 1905 Wilfred pleaded guilty  to theft of mail from the Post Office and was sentenced to 12 months hard labour.
