Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

On the 25 Jan 1915 the battalion were in the lines at St. Yves and the two line war diary states "Quiet night, a few shells dropped in the village. Heavy sniping throughout the day, 2 killed (including Frederick) and 1 wounded. Weather improving"
