Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The war diary states that on the 19th May 1917 the battery arrived in Poperinghe and placed the guns at position J.14.a.50.68 which appears to be east of Poperinghe but also east of Ypres. On the 28th May Alfred is named as one of four men killed when his artillery gun was hit by an enemy shell.
