Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

From a newspaper report in the Stratford Herald on 4 Oct 1918 we can say that Herbert was wounded sometime between the 8th and 28th September. The report states that he had returned to France from leave 3 weeks before his wife was informed, on 28 Sep 1918, that he had been terribly wounded resulting in a leg amputation and other wounds to his arms and torse. He never recovered from the wounds and died at the No 6 General Hospital in Rouen. We have, as yet, been unable to identify the date and place where Herbert was wounded.
