Albert is listed as being killed in action on 23 Apr 1916 at Katia.The war diaries for the Palestine Campaign are not available however we have found a number of sources of information about Albert's death.

  • Albert's father, also Albert Cay, was a JP. a Lay Canon at Coventry Cathedral and High Sheriff of Warwickshire for 1908.
  • Albert's wife Catherine was aboard the RMS Empress of Ireland and was killed (drowned), when it was struck by the SS Storstad in thick fog in the St. Lawrence River, the ship quickly sank claiming 1012 lives. Albert returned to England shortly thereafter.
  • Albert's Probate record lists his residence as Skitts, Redditch. He left his Estate to William Henry Mandeville Ellis R.N.V.R.
