Last Name

All Army & CWGC records are in last name Kelsey but his birth and Census records give his name as Skelsey as do the Kenilworth War Memorials he is named on.
It should be noted that Alfred's parents may have been illiterate as his birth certificate is signed by his mother with an X mark.

Circumstances of Death

Alfred is listed as having died of gunshot wounds on 28th August 1916 at the 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff. We have not been able to find his death cerificate or any details of when he was originally wounded.
