Edward is listed as being killed in action on 29 Oct 1914. The 2nd Battalion was diary for the period 28 to 30 Oct 1914 is transcribed below. La Boutillerie - Oct 28th:Sniping and shelling most of the day, a few men killed by shell fire. Casualties R & F [Rank & File] 2 killed and 20 wounded La Boutillerie - Oct 29th: Attacked 2am and 4am, a good deal of shelling as usual. Lt W.G. Holmes wounded R & F 2 killed and 15 wounded La Boutillerie - Oct 30th: Attacked from 12 midnight to 5am. Enemy kept back. Two R&F reinforcements joined. Casualties R & F 2 killed and 13 wounded. END |
