Circumstances of Death

William died of Influenza and broncho-pneumonia at the Cannock Chase Military Hospital on 15 Dec 1918. The following newspaper article reports on his death.

THE DEATH OF MR HARRY MILLS - Coventry Standard - 20th December 1918 We record, with much regret, the death of Mr. Harry Mills, which occurred at his regimental station on Sunday, from the effects of influenza. A native of Baginton, he had resided with his mother, Mrs Mills, in The Row, and was only recently married. His father, who died many years ago, was the local Blacksmith. Mr Mills was mobilized several months ago, previously he was engaged by the Coventry Corporation, at Whitley Pumping Station, where he was much esteemed by his fellow workers. Having spent his life in the parish he was well known, and was held in high estimation by the inhabitants. For his aged mother, to whom his death will be a great shock (he being her only son, and her only daughter having died some time ago), profound sympathy is felt, also for his widow and child.
