Circumstances of Death

Arthur is listed as being killed in action on 30 Sep 1916. His unit, the 51st Siege Battery, were part of the 21st Heavy Artillery Group (21 H A G) and unfornunately the war diary pages for the period Jan to Dec 1916 are missing from it. The remainder of the diary can be found by clicking here.

All we know about the day he died was that he was one of four men from his unit who were killed or died on 30 Sep 1916 and were buried at Bernafay the others being Gunner 83285 Bass, Gunner 74097 Moorhouse and Gunner 86448 Baker.
