Circumstances of Death

Cecil is listed as being killed in action on 9 Jan 1918. So far we have been unable to find the 26th Company war diary and so we are unable to establish what happened on the day Cecil was killed.

The CWGC website wrongly identifies Cecil's unit as 26th Battalion MGC, no such Battalion was created by the Machine Gun Corps. His unit 26th (Brigade) Company, MGC became part of the 9th Battalion MGC on 1 March 1918.
