Circumstances of Death

Frederick is listed as dying of wounds on 11 Aug 1918. The 15th Battalion war diary shows that Frederick was wounded on 9th August 1918 during a successful attack on enemy positions from their line at Westootre.  His company took casualties of 50% in the attack, however they managed to capture a number of prisoners and valuable documents. After being wounded he would have been taken to either the 2nd Canadian or 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station which were based at Esquelbecq and he died 2 there days later.
