Thomas is listed as being killed in action on 11 Nov 1916. The 1st/5th Battalion war diary entry for that day is transcribed below and a supporting article in the Warwick Advertiser on 25th November 1916 reports that Thomas's Platoon were being relieved from the trenches at Martinpuich by the 1st/6th Royal Warwicks they were hit by a shell killing 3 and wounding 5 of them. Martinpuich - 11 Nov 1916: Batt relieved by 1/6 R War R, moved back into support in trenches N & NE of Martinpuich. Casualties 6 OR's wounded (1 since died) and 2 OR's killed. END |
