Thomas is listed as being killed in action on 20 Mar 1918 during a raid on enemy lines. The Battalion war diary for that day is transcribed below.

20.3.1918: Two companies A & C raided the enemy lines in front of St. Quentin from Fayet and took 12 prisoners and 1 machine gun, our casualties 1 killed and 4 wounded.
