Alan is listed as dying of wounds on 15 Oct 1916, having originally been wounded on 13 Oct 1916. He is buried at Warlincourt-Halte Cemetery which was used by the 20th and 43rd Casualty Clearing Stations. The 1st/6th Battalion war diary entries for the period 12th to 16th Oct 1916 are transcribed in full below. Hebuterne - 12/10/16: Relieved 1/7th Worcesters in Hebuterne left sector - one company in line, one in Hebuterne. HQ & 2 Coys in Fonquevillers attached to 144th Inf Bde. 13/10/16: In trenches. Casualties 1 killed and 7 wounded (of which 3 died later) 14/10/16: In trenches. Casualties 2 killed and 3 wounded 15/10/16: In trenches. 16/10/16: Relieved by 1/6th Gloucester Regt, moved to billets at St. Amand. Rejoined 143 Inf Bde. |
