Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

Horace is listed as dying of wounds on 31 Mar 1918 and he is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial. From that it is presumed he died on the same day he was wounded and that his body was not recovered for burial.

The war diary for the 2nd/6th Battalion does not have any entries for the 28th; 29th; 30th and 31st March. On the 27th March the battalion was sent to the village of Marcelcave where they dug in 800 yards behind the village.
