Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

Records variously show that Michael either died, was missing or his death was "officially accepted" which means he was killed in action during the Battle of Langemarck when the battalion were ordered to hold their position on the Langemarck-Gheluvelt line at all costs. They did so but with a heavy cost with B company being "practically wiped out".
