Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
Frank was aboard the defensively armed Steamer, S.S. Daybreak which was carrying a cargo of iron ore on the Huelva - Glasgow route when it was torpedoed and sunk by the U-87 German Submarine off the coast of Northern Ireland, 1 mile east of the South Rock Light Vessel or 5 miles NE of Ballyquintin, Downs. Frank and the other 20 crew members lost their lives.Information from U.Boat.net
