Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

Henry is listed as dying of his wounds on 30 Mar 1918. His service records show that he died at 11th Australian Field Ambulance, Mericourt-l'Abbe. The war diary for 6th Brigade places the 109 Heavy Battery at Moylancourt on 29th & 30th March, no details regarding casualties are given. The war diary is transcribed below

29.3.1918 – 9pm: Numerous enemy parties fired on and calls from aeroplanes answered during the day. One section of 109 HB ordered to move south to J9 under orders of 27th brigade.

30.3.1918 - Moylancourt bombarded at intervals during the day.

12.45pm. 114 HB engaged fired on bridge in Q3 to assist the corps on our right.

2.25pm. All batteries on K25D 26C and D where enemy were reported to be concentrated until for 4.5pm PM various NF calls were answered during the day.

The remainder of 109 HB moved South during the night looks like the whole battery then coming under orders of 27th brigade. END
