Circumstances of Death
| Arthur is listed as being killed in action on 26th August 1917. As yet we have not been able to locate the war diary for 25th Heavy Battery, RGA. However a newspaper article in the Christchurch Times on 15th September 1917 states, in part, that "On Sunday last (26th inst) the Battery's position was heavily shelled, and as a result a shell struck the shelter in which your son and two comrades took refuge, killing them instantly. We laid him to rest this afternoon in a Military Cemetery three miles behind the line"
