Circumstances Leading to Death

Arthur is listed as being killed in action on 20 Jan 1916 when the battalion were in trenches near Neuve Chapelle. The brief battalion war diary entry for that day is transcribed below.

Neuve Chappelle - 20.1.16 Thursday: Fine with showers. Brig. Gen, Twyford and Brig. Gen. Marden, Commanding 114th Brigade each came round the trenches.

Casualties. No 7221 Pte. Harvey.   Killed in action.  D Coy
