Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

  • One of Edwin's pension records show that he was discharged from the army on 26 May 1920 because of Tuberculosis in his left lung which was attributable to his Service.
  • Another pension then records his death as being from Pulmonary TB on 11 Mar 1921.
  • The Leamington Courier reported on 18 March 1921 that Ernest died at home of Tuberculosis on 11 March 1921 after being bedridden for 16 weeks. Separately   It stated that the TB was contracted after being gassed in France.
  • At the time he was living at 16 Windsor Street, Leamington Spa with his wife.
We have not been able to identify when or where Edwin was gassed.
