Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
Goronwy died of bronchial pnuemonia at the No 2 General Hospital, Le Havre after receiving a head wound in action on 5 Oct 1918 NW of Beaurevoir during an attack on nearby enemy lines. Page 191 of Adderley writes in his History of the Warwickshire Yeomanry "On October 5th, Battalion HQ were at Montbrehain, and two sections were sent with two Battalions of Infantry, to help in the consolidation of Beaurevoir . For three days and nights the sections if A Company were continuously in action, and at times were compelled to cease fire as they were drawing fire on the advancing infantry"We are very grateful for the assistance of the Warwickshire Yeomany Museum for their help with compiling this research, and the extract from the Hon. H. Adderley's book.
