Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
Thomas is listed as dying of his wounds on 5 Oct 1918, his Register of Effects cards that he died at the 2nd/3rd City of London Field Ambulance. Unfortunately Labour Corps company's did not keep war diaries so we cannot identify when and where Thomas was wounded. We do know that other men from the Company died on that day and that the allies made the final breakthrough of the Hindenburg Line.
From its war diary we know that on 5th October 1918 the 2/3 City of London Field Ambulance was based in a factory on the D939 just north of Villers-les-Cagnicourt (Map Reference 51b.p.34.d.3.4).
