Other Military Service Information

William originally enlisted on 14 Aug 1914 but was discharged due to a hernia in Oct 1914. A newspaper report shows that he was forced to re-enlist by a tribunal in August 1917.

Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

William died of Broncho Pnuemonia at the 3rd Canadian General Hospital at Pas de Calais.

Please Note

The Warwickshire Roll of Honour Book lists the soldier as Private 9199 Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry but we have found no connection to Ratley for this man, unlike the William named above who was born and raised in the village
