Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
It is not clear when Samuel was wounded but his battalion were in the trenches at Mouquet Farm near Albert on 8 Nov 1916 when a shell burst caused 10 casualties. Samuel died at the 49th Casualty Clearing Station at Contay.
