Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

On the day Amos died from his wounds the battalion were in trenches between Gully Farm and Outpost Farm near Hooge when they came under artillery fire followed by an infantry attack on their lines which was easily repulsed by Lewis Guns. Later that afternoon the Germans exploded a mine near Gully Farm. No ground was lost to the enemy and Amos was the only man to be killed that day. It is not known if he died in the field or at a Casualty Clearing Station near Lijssenthoek cemetery.
