Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The battalion were in trenches at Ovillers-la-Boisselle when the were ordered to attack 2 objectives north of their positions. The trench map positions for the the objectives were 57d.R.32.D.1.2 and 57d.R.32.C.9.1. After some initial resistence from enemy machine gunners the battalion took both objectives with the loss of 130 killed, wounded or missing.
