- Arthur was posted to the Army Reserve on the day following his enlistment and was then called up for service 21st July 1916
- Arthur was compulsory transferred to the Labour Corps from the Royal Field Artillery on 30 Jun 1916 at Bordon Camp, Salisbury

| Arthur died on 24 Nov 1918 of Influenza, Pneumonia & Cardiac Failure at the Fargo Military Hospital, Durrington, Wilts. He had been admitted to the hospital on 17 Nov 1918.

- However Arthur's name was registered as Arthur Albert Hyatt BADGER and on 16 May 1896 Sarah married Albert Arthur Hyatt
- Sarah died in 1896 aged 38
- Arthur's next of kin was his sister Mary Elizabeth Hyatt who lived opposite the Vicarage in Napton
