Circumstances of Death

Gilbert is listed as being killed in a flying accident on 12 Aug 1917.

The R Cawsey flying accident website states that Gilbert was killed when the D.H.6 aeroplane he was in fell into a spinning nose dive at 1500ft and crashed near Winterbourne Monkton, Wilts. Also killed in the crash was Lt William E. Tate.
