Circumstances Leading to Death

The battalion were in front line trenches at Railway Wood just east of Ypres. During the day over 100 men were deployed to carry rations from the Brigade HQ to the trenches and they were subject to continuous sniping and occassional shelling. 6 men were killed and 20 wounded.
