Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
Percy's Pension Card indicates that he died of a gun shot wound(s) to the head on 28 Dec 1916. The war diary for that day specifically states 'No Casualties'. As the war diary refers only to BOR's (Battalion Other Ranks) it is not possible to identify on which day Percy was wounded. Below we have listed casualty details for
wounded soldiers from the preceeding 10 days:
Given the serious sounding nature of Percy's wound it is possible that he was wounded the day before he died, other than that it would have on or prior to the 19 Dec 1916. During this period the Battalion was camped on the West Bank of Haj River near Kut.
