Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
On the day that Frank was killed (25 Aug 1918) the 55th Field Ambulance was at Bonnay about 15 kms SW of Albert. On that day the field ambulance admitted 647 wounded men of which 538 were evacuated. No mention is made of casualties amongst the staff and Frank was probably killed while either tending to or evacuating the wounded. He was no doubt very brave when doing so which is reflected by the award of his two Military Medals.
